Valentine’s Day Julie & Julia Style

It is way past my bedtime. Everyone is asleep, and my whole house smells like Beouf Bourguignon. While my Valentine slept off his sickness this afternoon, I faced my biggest domestic challenge to date with this recipe, and, being the chronic overachiever that I am, I even doubled it.

A few words to the wise…. BE SURE TO READ THE DIRECTIONS THROUGH COMPLETELY BEFORE ATTEMPTING JULIA CHILD’S BEOUF BOURGUIGNON. My apron says, “Real Men Don’t Use Recipes”. But in this case, they do. I’ll admit that some parts of tomorrow night’s dinner will be my own rendition of Julia’s masterpiece, however, no children or husbands were harmed in the making of this meal and that is quite an accomplishment. I let Clark sample the finished product and in his words it was “life changing”. I’ll take that.

So far, everything is going according to plan for tomorrow night’s Julie & Julia themed Valentine’s Day feast.

Tomorrow morning, the kiddos and I will make Valentine place cards, ridiculously large pin-on hearts, and more red construction paper chain links. Tomorrow afternoon, red velvet cake and retro hair, and tomorrow evening…. we feast!

If all goes well… Beef Bourguignon.

If disaster strikes… Hawthorne’s Pizza.

Happy Valentine’s Day, Everyone!

THIS WAS AMAZING!!! I’m sorry to go all caps on your message board, but I am one of only 9 other people in the world that was able to try this dinner and experience this Double Julia Valentine’s special. AMAZING! I did it again. And I meant it both times. Great job 🙂
